Training in music ascended from Music School aft. T. Chukhadjyan to Music College aft. R. Melikyan, and then Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory.
In 1996 and 1997 he won the 1st prizes in ‘Moscow 96’ festival and ‘Big Apple’ festival in New York, respectively. In 1998 he was acknowledged as the ‘best singer/songwriter at ‘Ayo’ competition. His first CD, called Hayko Romance was released in 1999, which was followed by his Best of album on DVD in 2003. In the same year Hayko had solo-concert in California (Alex Theatre, Glendale) and in Yerevan. The latter concert was recorded and released as live concert on DVD. In the same prolific year Hayko released another album Norits (Again) and was rewarded ‘the best male singer’ award at National Music Awards (in 2006 as well).
In 2004 Hayko released the fourth album, titled Mi khosqov (In a word). Hayko not only sings, he also composes songs for many Armenian singers and soundtracks for films (‘Spanvats Aghavni’, sung by Lilit Hovhannisyan, duduk performed by Kamo Seyranyan).
Hayko represented Armenia in Eurovision song contest in 2007 and came in eighth. This song contest enabled Hayko to have access to European audience.
In 2010 Hayko scored triumph in his personal life as well when he marries singer Anahit Simonyan. This union will soon give birth to beautiful musical projects, the first being a duet that will be included in Anahit’s first CD to be released again in 2010. Hayko has also received title of Honorary Artist of Republic of Armenia.
